  7. Congressman Thomas Foley (D-WA)  has been the 49th Speaker of the House of Representatives since 1989.  His leadership career has included posts as Majority Leader and Majority Whip. Foley has represented the Fifth Congressional District of the state of Washington since January, 1965.

  9. During his years in Congress, Mr. Foley has been a member of the Committee on Standards and Official Conduct; the Committee on Agriculture; and the Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs.
